When I married my wife Stephanie I promised her that one day I would get her a pink VW Beetle. I even built her a plastic model so we would not forget.
As our daughter Jessica turned 15 and needed a car we started looking for an old VW Beetle. We found a 1969 Beetle that was faded tan, had some rust, but was overall pretty solid. We got the Bug painted medium blue. I replaced the interior and worked on making it safe. This was actually my first restoration. I think it turned out pretty good - blue Bug with bright white interior. Unfortunately that little Bug didn't last very long before it was wrecked.
Fast forward a few decades and Stephanie's birthday was coming up. I was trying to think of a great gift for her when I remembered about my promise. I started looking for a pink Bug on eBay. As I was searching for the right one I saw this one. "THAT'S IT.....THAT'S THE ONE.....THAT IS WHAT I'M GOING TO GET HER!"
I bought it sight unseen and had it shipped. Since it didn't get here in time for her birthday I had to print out pictures and put in an envelope. I think she was surprised.
It needed more work than the seller said. I've rewired the entire car. I'm now in the process of replacing the black interior with white.
So if you see the Hippie Bug driving down the road with a woman smiling behind the happy face, flash her a peace sign.
